Imagine you have a big speaking event coming up,
but you have a fear of public speaking...

You hear that if you write 'I LOVE public speaking' for 30 minutes a day, for a week, it will reprogram your neurofrontal cortex so deeply that your whole identity will shift...and your fear of public speaking will disappear.

But who has the time, or discipline to write the same thing over and over and over...

The Science of Whispr

01 — REPETITION

What you repeatedly see matters.

Psychologist Robert Zajonc pioneered research into what became known as the Mere Exposure Effect — the finding that repeated exposure to a stimulus can influence our familiarity with and preference toward it.

Later research has demonstrated the effect across many different types of stimuli.

What you repeatedly see affects your behavior

Whispr allows you to deliberately choose some of the ideas, words and images that repeatedly enter your environment.

02 — PRIMING

Goals can be activated by cues.

A meta-analysis examining 23 studies of achievement-goal priming found that priming achievement goals produced a significant improvement in task and job performance compared with control conditions.

The researchers also reported particularly interesting results involving context-specific primes, visual stimuli and real-world field experiments.

Keep the goal in your environment while you're doing the work.

Instead of writing down your intention and forgetting about it, Whispr repeatedly brings chosen cues back into your environment while you work.

03 — ATTENTION

Your attention has a history.

Research into attentional priming suggests that what we've previously attended to can influence how attention is deployed afterward.

A scientific review described evidence for a form of memory related to previous deployments of attention, helping the brain prioritize behaviorally relevant information.

In other words:

Your attention isn't starting from zero every second.

Previous experience helps influence what gets noticed next.

Train your attention on what matters.

Whispr repeatedly brings your chosen priorities back into your field of attention.

04 — ENVIRONMENTAL CUES

Your environment can remind you who you want to be.

Research into goals, habits and implementation intentions has demonstrated the importance of linking intended behaviors with situational cues.

Instead of relying entirely on willpower or remembering your goal at exactly the right moment, cues in your environment can help make goal-relevant responses more accessible.

Think about traditional goal setting:

Set the goal → Close the notebook → Return to normal life → Get distracted.

Whispr takes a different approach:

Set the intention → Return to normal life → Keep encountering the intention.

Don't just set the intention. Put it in your environment.

05 — VISUAL EXPOSURE

Your brain can be influenced by what you've seen—even when you don't explicitly remember seeing it.

In a neuroimaging study examining visual exposure and preference, researchers found that prior exposure to visual stimuli could subsequently influence preference even when explicit recognition of those stimuli was at chance.

The brain can retain effects from exposure that aren't necessarily reflected in conscious recollection.

Images are powerful forms of information transfer.

That's why Whispr isn't limited to words. Image Whisprs allow you to periodically bring visual representations of goals, identities and desired outcomes into your everyday environment.
